Diamond Color

The color of diamonds, which are composed of pure carbon with traces of other elements that mix during their formation, can vary and be difficult to discern for the untrained eye. However, subtle differences can be detected by trained professionals. The most common element that mixes with diamonds is nitrogen, causing a hint of yellow. Diamonds with no traces of body color, or colorless diamonds, are extremely rare. At Store Fifty-Two, our diamonds undergo color grading in American Gem Society (AGS) Accredited Gem Laboratories, where they are assessed by trained gemologists. Furthermore, most of our diamonds over 0.75 carats are also color-graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and come with a GIA diamond report. We also offer a range of natural "fancy" colored diamonds, such as fancy yellow (canary), pink, blue, chocolate, black, and cognac.
