Diamond Clarity

Most diamonds have natural characteristics such as crystals, feathers, or clouds, giving each one its own unique identity. These features, developed during the formation of the diamond, make it a unique natural wonder. The clarity of a diamond is evaluated based on the presence of these inclusions. Diamonds with fewer inclusions or flaws are rarer and more valuable. "Flawless" is a term used very sparingly and under Federal Trade Commission regulations, a diamond can only be considered flawless if no internal imperfections or external blemishes are visible to the naked eye of a professionally trained gemologist when viewed under a 10 power binocular microscope. In some cases, inclusions may be noticeable without magnification. All diamonds from Store Fifty-Two are evaluated for clarity in our American Gem Society (AGS) Accredited Gem Laboratories and are often accompanied by a grading report from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). While the inclusions in a diamond may or may not affect its beauty, they do play a role in determining its value.
