Store Fifty-Two has never encouraged the use of synthetic gems to our clients and does not see the worth of lab-grown gems as a replacement for natural gemstones. Synthetic colored stones have been available for over a century, particularly with emeralds, rubies, and sapphires. We have only accommodated customers' requests for synthetic material and have offered a few fashion jewelry collections made of sterling silver and other non-precious materials, as well as gift lines featuring cubic zirconia, a diamond alternative material. We have never presented synthetic gems as fine jewelry with enduring value. We anticipate that the value of synthetic gems will continue to drop, much like what has happened in the television and computer industries. Our belief is that prices will decrease until technology, cost, and demand reach a balance, leading to a lower overall value.
